Using heart rate zones more effectively is a proven method to maximise training and weight management.
Prior to testing we ask a few questions to help establish your current health and fitness level, aims, goals and take some basic measurements; height and weight. This takes 10-15min.
The analysis starts with some warming up getting use to the analysis protocol, equipment and finding out the correct assessment for you, this can take 10-20min. Once we have all the information and protocols set we start the active analysis. Starting at a low intensity breathing into the mask, the effort and the speed of activity are increased at measured intervals. The test continues until you can no longer continue or until the physiologist ends the protocol. During this time data is collected all the time and analysed. Based on the amount of carbon dioxide that you exhale, oxygen you use, the monitoring of your heart rate and activity intensity we are able to providing you with an individual metabolic profile. This process can take 15-25min.
After the analysis we encourage an easy cool down. Once cooled down we can briefly show you your result, although a full detailed report will take between 1-3 days, depending on the volume of prior analysis we have done. We offer a 20-30min consultation reviewing your report results, which will explain every aspect of the results and give advice on your health, fitness, nutritional and performance goals.
Guessing about your physiology leads to inefficient and subsequently poor health, training or performance results. Understanding how to work out and modify your training intensities to get the most from every workout is vital for optimising each training session. It’s not about doing more exercise, or at a higher intensity, it’s about finding the right balance.
The optional 7 site body composition can give real insight into your weight management. Body weight measurement alone is a poor indicator for fat reduction and most electrical measurements are effected by hydration status.

Bear in mind that exercise testing is not "one and done." As your body changes through diet and exercise, so will your metabolism numbers change as your body changes. Guessing about your physiology can lead to inefficiencies in nutritional and exercise requirements, weight management and fitness planning. It is recommended to re-evaluate between 8-12 weeks for maintaining optimum efficiency.
