This package has it all, combining the resting metabolic and active metabolic analysis, assesses how efficient your body is at using fat and carbohydrate stores while resting and exercising at different intensities. This includes measuring your VO2 max, aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, lung and heart fitness, your cardiovascular economy, which will provide us an accurate measure of how efficient you are.
The assessment will look at how much energy you use during rest and exercise, and how your dietary choices meet your exercise requirements. The nutritional consultation uses the results to develop a personalised plan to help you meet your lifestyle, training and performance goals.
As part of our nutrition coaching and metabolic analysis we provide our clients with examples of meal planning so you have a guide to what type of meal you should be eating depending on your training and your individual metabolic requirements.
It starts with some preparation for the analysis, this is all explained via email and when you have your assessment. Prior to testing we ask a few questions to help establish your current health and fitness level, aims, goals and take some basic measurements; height and weight. This takes 10-15min.
Resting analysis 12-15min: You need to be fasted for 3hrs prior to this analysis.During the test, you'll need to wear heart rate monitor (chest strap) and analysis mask. Laying in a relaxed position during the analysis you will breathe into the mask into the mouthpiece for 12-15 minutes. During this time data is collected and analysed. Based on the amount of carbon dioxide that you exhale, oxygen you inhale during the analysis we are able to determine how efficiently you use oxygen/burn calories, providing you with an individual resting metabolic profile. Once this phase of the analysis is complete we recommend taking a lite snack prior to the active analysis.
Active analysis 10-20min: The analysis starts with some warming up getting use to the analysis protocol, equipment and finding out the correct assessment for you. Once we have all the information and protocols set we start the active analysis. Starting at a low intensity breathing into the mask, the effort and the speed of activity are increased at measured intervals. The test continues until you can no longer continue or until the physiologist ends the protocol. During this time data is collected all the time and analysed. Again based on the amount of carbon dioxide that you exhale, oxygen you use, the monitoring of your heart rate and activity intensity we are able to providing you with an individual metabolic profile.
After the analysis we encourage an easy cool down. Once cooled down we can briefly show you your results, although a full detailed report will take between 1-3days, depending on the volume of prior analysis we have done. We offer a 30min consultation reviewing your reports from both analysis results, which will explain every aspect of the results and give advice on your health, fitness, nutritional and performance goals. You will be sent all your reports this gives you the most up to date insight available for precise monitoring of your health, fitness, nutrition and performance.
